This independent guide is included here for your personal exploration. You still need a castle admission ticket. Allow roughly 60–90 minutes for this short route, longer for exhibitions and queues.
Check the castle’s official visitor information for opening hours and closures on your visit day. This app does not provide live availability.
Plan your visit ↗Tap Play at each stop. The guide uses your browser’s text-to-speech and the English voices installed on your device. Start audio while the screen is open; availability and offline speech depend on your device.
Headphones recommended. Every story also has a readable transcript. Audio stays on the selected stop; advance whenever you are ready.
The route climbs steep, uneven cobbled paths. The prison vaults and palace apartments involve steps. For a gentler alternative to the Lang Stairs, use the winding road; it is still steep.
Ask entrance staff about the mobility vehicle and suitable routes. Staff can advise on an alternative to the stepped exit. This is not a verified step-free itinerary.
Official access guide ↗The One o’Clock Gun usually fires at 1 pm, except Sundays, Good Friday and Christmas Day. Check with staff on arrival. Expect a sudden loud report; keep to the designated viewing area.
If you would like to see the firing, visit stop 3 near 1 pm, then continue the rest of the walk.
